Most websites don’t lose rankings because of one big problem. They lose them to a stack of small, fixable mistakes. Here are the ones we see most often when we audit a new client’s site.
The mistakes
- No keyword focus per page. Every important page should target one main search intent.
- Duplicate or missing title tags. Write a unique, descriptive title for every page.
- Slow mobile pages. Compress images and remove heavy scripts you don’t need.
- Thin service pages. Explain what you do, for whom, where and at what price range.
- Broken internal links. Fix 404s and link related pages to each other.
- No Google Business Profile. Local buyers search Maps first.
- Ignoring search intent. Match the format Google already ranks — guide, list, product or service page.
- No schema markup. Structured data helps Google understand your business.
- Buying cheap backlinks. Spammy links can do more harm than good.
- Not tracking anything. Set up Google Search Console and GA4 from day one.
